The Ruby Summer rolls on. Nighttime temperatures are beginning to drop into the 40’s and the days are getting noticeably shorter.
During the longest days of the summer at the lodge the dinner service takes place with more than an hour left of sunlight, now the sun is setting as the service takes place.
It’s a sign of the shorter days ahead with the first signs of the changing season beginning to show up in Lamoille.
School started this week, football season is not far away and the upper elevations of the Ruby Mountains are waiting for the first dusting of snow.
The annual Ruby cutting week begins next Sunday, flying into Talbot Creek for four days of ripping saws deep in the Rubies. One of my favorite weeks of the year.
What a summer it has been at the lodge with fall near and winter coming.
We all can’t wait for the cold air and first snow.
