What To Expect

Our guests should come to the Rubies prepared with the clothing and equipment you might need for any day you go skiing.

It’s important to plan for all conditions, as any given day can be bluebird, or temperatures could fall below zero and the snow could start flying. Additionally, arrival and departure of the helicopters creates a microclimate of swirling snow and wind from the rotors and although it lasts only a few seconds it, nevertheless, is a weather condition that you must dress for.

Gear list includes, but is not limited to, goggles, sunglasses, hats, gloves, ski clothes and sun block. We recommend layering your clothing for all conditions- including light clothing that can be removed during the day, making sure you have a water resistant layer on the outside. Thick parkas are not recommended.

For more information on TRAVELING TO RUBY, visit the “Getting Here” section on the CONTACT US page.

Basic Layering

Base: capilene or polypropelene layer that wicks away moisture, instead of absorbing. NOT cotton.
Insulation: Fleece, wool or other warm garment meant to hold heat in, while letting moisture out.
Protection: Waterproof, breathable layer like GORE-TEX® to protect from the elements while allowing your under layers to breath.
