January 25, 2026. southern recon.

We finished the weekend three day-tour with guests departing this morning.

A guide team did a recon flight to the southern terrain, near the Cass House Peak area.

The southern terrain was the location of the first ever run at Ruby in 1977.

Today the guide crew and JR skied a run we named “new knee” because it’s the first run JR skied since his knee replacement.

We found cold, recrystallized, shallow powder skiing through ancient Bristlecone Pines, a true magic place.

We will be headed south to “new knee” soon.

High pressure and beautiful flying conditions  build over the Great Basin for the next week.

Sleep well.
