January 19, 2026. Keep the faith.

The high pressure and stretch of great flying and beautiful weather continues.

On the first day of the new three day tour today we skied nine runs in the Lamoille Canyon Complex.

Believe it or not, after 11 days since the last snowfall, the surface snow quality is improving.

You’re saying that’s not possible, but it is.

The Great Basin is a high desert climate, with cold temperatures and clear cold nights, the dry desert air pulls the moisture out of the snowpack creating a process called radiation recrystallization which is when surface snow metamorphoses into faceted crystals due to a radiation exchange that occurs near the surface of a snowpack.

The result is the shallow powder skiing Ruby is known for.

The overall snowpack is still thin, and it is still early conditions at Ruby.

Guests are relaxing after a big day one with the hot tub patio in full effect and the new sauna heating up.

See you tomorrow for day 2 of the three day tour.

Goodnight.
