The single day is always a gamble with the weather.
And today we went all in with a single day road trip to the Southern Rubies.
We rarely go south on the single day because of the drive length (40 min from the Lodge) and the already delayed start with morning orientations.
The Southern Rubies typically have less wind because they are lower and sometimes “under” the wind that the heart of the Ruby Mountains sees.
With wind in the forecast we decided to try our luck and head south for the day.
We were on the road by 10am and into the mountains by 10:45.
Good skiing with a warming snow surface in terrain skied.
Winds increased and pushed us out of the mountains around 1:30 after 4 runs for two groups and 3 runs for the other two groups today.
A big changeover is underway at the lodge with the single-day departure and new three-day tour arrival.
See you in the morning.
Sleep well.
