The wind continues. A very memorable wind event since January 31 with pounding southwest winds continuing today throughout the terrain.
We had a busy morning of orientations for the first day of the three-day tour and were on the mountain around 9:30.
With the strong winds, we were again limited to the snowcat terrain in Conrad Creek.
There is good skiing in areas that haven’t been skied yet (we have been in Conrad for the last 4 days straight.)
The wind has also impacted the open slopes with a stiff wind affected surface.
The best skiing is in sheltered terrain that has escaped the relentless wind from the last 96+ hours.
Wind is forecast to decrease tomorrow, with continued unseasonably warm temperatures, we are hoping for a window in the weather to fly.
A strong cold storm is expected by this weekend bringing a refresh of snow and a return to normal winter temperatures.
We skied 5 runs today in Conrad and finished the day with a soup & coffee break with an alpine fire.
See you tomorrow, a lot more to come.
