There is a new sheriff in town and by sheriff we mean helicopter and by that we mean N704RH, a Ruby red dual hydraulic beauty. The aircraft was delayed for our season start as the aircraft company we are contracted with this season recently purchased the machine and was delayed getting its FAA registrations.
She’s here now and we couldn’t be happier.
A early morning wind check flight showed improving wind conditions since yesterday and a flyable condition in all of our terrain.
We made the trip to the southern terrain, Long and Segunda Canyon for the first time this season skiing 8 runs under true Nevada bluebird skies.
Yesterday’s wind impacted the snow surface in places with wind affected snow mixed with soft, cold, recrystallized powder throughout runs skied today.
Long Canyon holds some of the longest runs at Ruby with runs averaging 2,200 vertical feet per run.
This crew that has been here the past 3 days is also here tomorrow for a single day. The weather looks like more of the same tomorrow with clear skies and manageable wind.
The forecast is remaining consistent with a storm system continuing to be likely on Saturday with a welcomed refresh of snow.
More to come.
