The weather forecast can change in a hurry.
After yesterday’s nine run day of some of the best skiing of the season the PM guide meeting weather check showed strong winds today, something that wasn’t in the forecast just 12 hours earlier.
We woke up this morning to calm conditions at the lodge but with blowing snow visible in the upper terrain. We did a wind check flight and did not have a flyable condition due to strong winds.
We moved the snowcats up to a landing zone that was under the strong wind elevation for a smooth aircraft transition into the snowcat terrain.
We skied 4 runs of cold recrystallized powder before an aircraft exit for all groups.
Winds are expected to slightly decrease tomorrow with a storm looming for the weekend.
See you tomorrow.
