January 18, 2025. Bundle up.

We had our first double digit run day of the 2025 season.

Ten runs in Lamoille and Box Canyon.

Cold, recrystallized shallow powder on north aspects. We moved to Box Canyon for run 6 of the day and found a temperature crust on a SW aspect which was difficult skiing. We finished the day moving back into north facing terrain.

The big story of the day was the temperatures, with an arctic air mass settled in, temperatures struggled to get into the mid teens. It was one of the lowest temperature days I recall with consistent temperatures in the lows single digits at ridge line with moderate winds creating windchill values in the -10F range.

Temperatures remain cold and well below normal for the next several days.

We are anxiously waiting for the next storm system to arrive as the dominate high pressure ridge over the West Coast remains in control through the extended forecast.

Sleep well.
