The first day of winter and shortest day of the year.
High pressure has gripped the area for the last week with mild daytime temperatures for the middle of December.
An active pattern is expected to begin moving in tomorrow through the end of the month with waves of Pacific moisture forecasted to bring accumulating snow to the Ruby Mountains through the Christmas Holiday.
The mountains are white, there is marginal skiing around currently. More terrain will become skiable with each additional storm system.
The long range models call for high pressure to rebuild around the 1st of the year for the first week of January with a potential change for the second week. It’s a long way away.
Enjoy the Christmas Season. The guide crew arrives for guide training January 8th.
Year 48 is getting close.
